L’ICRA se fixe pour objectifs la promotion, le renforcement et le soutien de mouvements agricoles et ruraux de diverse nature et avec différentes fonctions; elle s’efforce de favoriser la connaissance réciproque et la collaboration entre ses membres grâce à des rencontres, échanges et recherches visant à rendre plus homogène leur engagement dans les différents pays. Une expression concrète de cette œuvre est le Service « Agrimissio», qui finance des micro-projets de développement rural dans les pays les plus pauvres.
