Sowing Hope for the Planet 2018 – 2020 Campaign of the UISG

“When we speak of the ‘environment’ what we really mean is a relationship existing between

nature and the society which lives in it.” (LS#139)

We are urged to heed the call of Pope Francis for an ecological conversion “to become painfully aware, to dare to turn what is happening to the world into our own personal suffering and to discover what each of us can do about it.” (LS #19)

For this reason, members of the UISG Board met on May 18 and decided to whole heartedly promote the UISG Campaign, Sowing Hope for the Planet.

A project in which every Sister whose congregation is a member of UISG, and their connections are provided with an opportunity to make a difference in our care of the planet.

This project is a collaborative effort of the JPIC Commission in the name of UISG and the Global Catholic Climate Movement (GCCM).

Pope Francis has underlined the fundamental connection that exists between the environmental crisis and the social crisis that we are experiencing and is asking for. He often reminds us: “Everything is interconnected.”
